UPDATE – Pedestrians hit on Wairau Road, North Shore.

Police remain at the scene where five people were struck by a car on Wairau Road around 8.30am this morning.

Police can confirm that five people have received injuries.  Four have been taken to Auckland hospital and a fifth person was treated at  the scene.

All of the five people injured are students from Westlake Girls and Westlake Boys schools and their families have been notified.

One vehicle was involved in the crash and police are speaking with the driver of that vehicle.  The driver has not sustained any injuries.

“Police and Victim Support are working closely with the families of the students and the school to support them at this traumatic time,” said Acting Inspector Jason Homan.

Cordons remain in place and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
