A 23-year-old male has been arrested this afternoon after Police undertook a short pursuit of a blue Toyota Camry, registration ZO6395, from the Hutt Valley as it was registered as stolen.
This vehicle has then been abandoned in the City Life Hotel carpark in Gilmer Street and the alleged offender has made his way on to Lambton Quay before being located and arrested on the Wellington Waterfront near Civic Square this afternoon at 1.30pm.
Police are considering a range of driving-related charges including dangerous driving and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle. Investigations are still underway to determine if this vehicle is linked to a previous incident in Island Bay reported to Police this morning.
The vehicle has been seized and will undergo a forensic examination this afternoon. As yet, no firearm has been located.
