The investigation into the death of 18 month-old Mila Tamihana yesterday is ongoing and Police enquiries today have involved speaking with family members and neighbours, a process that is likely to continue next week.
A post mortem examination has been conducted and Mila’s body has now been released to her family.
We are mindful that this is an extremely difficult time for Mila’s family and as our investigation continues, supporting her family through this is also a priority.
Our enquiries will continue and we do not expect that we will have any definitive answers as to how this tragedy has occurred for at several days yet.
