Update following fatal crash in Templeton

Canterbury Police investigations into a fatal two vehicle crash at approximately 11.22am this morning (18 February 2015) at the stop sign controlled intersection of Jones Rd and Dawsons Rd in Templeton are ongoing.  A Toyota Estima with seven Taiwanese people on board is understood to have collided with a 4x4 vehicle with one occupant.  A rear-seat passenger of the Estima was confirmed as deceased at the scene.

The death has been referred to the Coroner. 

Canterbury Police and Victim Support are currently arranging appropriate support for those involved in the crash. 

No further details of the deceased or those involved in the crash will be released until the process to inform next of kin has been completed.

The driver and five passengers in the Estima and the driver and sole occupant of the 4x4 were taken to Christchurch Hospital with a minor to moderate injuries. 

Canterbury Police and Serious Crash Unit investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
