The boat reported overdue from Great Barrier Island yesterday has now been located following search efforts this morning and yesterday afternoon.

Police helicopter Eagle searched the Auckland Shoreline this morning and spotted the vessel drifting north of Waiheke Island around 9:30am.

The Police boat Deodar was then dispatched to reach the boat.

It appears the boat had broken down and become adrift in heavy seas.

The two occupants were not injured after their ordeal.

Deodar currently has the vessel under tow and will be taking it to the nearest point of safety, Maitiatia, Waiheke Island.

The Coastguard Air Patrol, RNZAF P3 Orion and Great Barrier Coastguard Vessel assisted in the search for the missing pair.
