Update on Thames double shooting

1 min read

Eastern Waikato Police investigating the overnight shooting of two people at a Thames home say they are making good progress but still need the public's help to hold those responsible to account.

Detective Sergeant Martyn Hughes said officers had today identified a number of persons of interest following last night's gun-point home invasion of a Parawai Rd home.

"Assisted by the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad, Police today conducted a search of one property while forensic examinations of the home where the incident took place and of two vehicles linked to the incident are currently being carried out.

"In addition the 17-year-old woman and the 18-year-old man shot in the incident who earlier discharged themselves from hospital have since been located by Police at Waikato Hospital receiving treatment and have been spoken with by our staff."

Mr Hughes said a 73-year-old man injured in the incident was kept in Thames Hospital overnight but has since been released.

"We're still wanting to here from anyone who was in the area of Parawai Rd between 7:30-8:30pm last night who may have seen or heard anything suspicious and ask that they contact Thames Police on 07 858 6200.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
