Vehicle of interest in search for LA Tukerangi

1 min read

A Toyota Corolla car has become of interest to police searching for 15-year-old LA Tukerangi and 36-year-old Dean Whakatau.

Information indicates the pair were in this vehicle in Rotorua on Sunday evening and it is described as a 1993 Toyota Corolla hatchback, colour champagne brown and registration number SG1810. It has also been described as possibly having a dent in a door and one or more grey primer patches on the paintwork.

Police want to hear from anyone who sees this vehicle or has any information regarding its current whereabouts.

Detective Senior Sergeant Zane Smith said: “We have had an overwhelming response from the public reporting possible sightings and this is heart-warming. However, despite that response and the significant media and social media coverage, neither Dean or LA have made contact and we have no confirmed sighting of them since Sunday evening. This is of concern. Our focus remains on finding LA safe and returning her to her family and we ask that the public continue to be vigilant on our behalf.”

Any sightings of LA, Dean or the Toyota Corolla should be passed immediately to police via the 111 system. Anyone with general information is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
