Wellington Police launch homicide investigation after suspicious death

1 min read

Wellington Police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a 37-year-old woman was found in a Brussels Street property in Miramar, Wellington.

Police were called to the property after a friend of the deceased visited the property yesterday afternoon and discovered her.

Armed Police were dispatched to secure the scene until it was confirmed there were no other people in the property.

A scene examination is underway with forensic experts and an area canvass will be conducted with neighbours in the local area.

Police are hoping to remove the body of the female from the scene later today and undertake a post mortem.

Police will not be releasing the name of the victim until family members have been advised.

Detective Inspector Sean Hansen, Wellington District Field Crime Manager, says "I am appealing to anyone who saw any people or vehicles at the Brussels Street property between Thursday evening until she was found late on Sunday afternoon to come forward and speak with Police".

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any movements from the property since Thursday afternoon to contact Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or to approach the officers who are in the area.
