Wellsford Arrests

1 min read

On Monday the 6th of October at approximately 9:30am Police were called to an incident on the main street of Wellsford where a man was attacked by three men and his jacket stolen.  The victim, a local resident,  suffered multiple bruises to his face and head.   The violent and sustained assault was carried about by three local men  and in full view of the public. This caused great concern within the community, with locals coming forward to support the Police with their enquiries.

This morning, as a result of evidence gathered after the assault, Police from around Auckland conducted search warrants at a number of Wellsford addresses and have arrested three Wellsford residents in relation to the assault.  They have been charged with Aggravated Robbery and Unlawful Assembly, and will appear today at the North Shore District Court.  One of the men also faces charges for unlawfully possessing a firearm.

"Police have acted swiftly to identify and arrest the men responsible for this assault”   says Inspector Mark Fergus, relieving Rodney Area Commander. “These arrests show partnership and support between the Police and local residents, who together want violence out of their community ”.
