West Coast Area Commander provisional appointment

1 min read

Attribute to Tasman District Commander Superintendent Mike Johnson

It is my pleasure to announce Detective Senior Sergeant Jacqui Corner has been provisionally appointed to the position of West Coast Area Commander.

I anticipate that this appointment will be finalised in the next few weeks.

She replaces Inspector Mel Aitken who has been promoted to a national role in headquarters in Wellington.

Jacqui has been the Detective Senior Sergeant on the West Coast since June 2016, during this time she has also relieved as Area Commander periodically.

She joined Police in 1999 and prior to being on the West Coast worked in Auckland in a range of both CIB and general duties roles. She was also deployed to the Solomon Islands in 2007.

Jacqui has a genuine desire to see West Coast Area Police thrive, perform highly and continue to be an enjoyable place to work for all.

I look forward to her taking up the role in the near future and continuing the great work that is being done on the coast to make our communities safer.
