Woman missing in Waimakariri located

1 min read

Please attribute to Sergeant Phil Simmonds:

The woman who was missing in the Mt Thomas Forest Conservation area in Waimakariri since yesterday afternoon has been located safe and well.

She was found by two tourists who were walking on the track early this morning. They walked her out of the bush and delivered her to SAR staff around 8am.

The woman spent the night near the top of the mountain and was walking herself down the hill when she was found by the tourists.

The 31-year-old will be reunited with her family after being checked by medical staff.

We are thrilled this search and rescue operation has had such a positive outcome.

I would like to thank the LandSAR volunteers and the Westpac Rescue helicopter who assisted in the search for this woman.
