Helping people to feel safe in their communityOn Wednesday 12 July a 25-member contingent of NZ Police staff arrived in Timor-Leste (East Timor) as part of a multinational task force to help restore law and order in the capital Dili. Rebuilding BecoraWithin a few days of arriving in Timor-Leste the NZ Police contingent was patrolling the streets of Becora with their Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) colleagues. Watch this spaceSergeant Jane McGill, Eastern, was assigned the unenviable task of setting up the public counter and watchhouse function at the Becora police station. People ‘too scared’ to rebuild after arsonHisamudin Ibrahim (RMP), Yvonne Ablett (AFP), Sergeant Neil Williams (NZ Police, Canterbury) and an interpreter survey damage done by arsonists to a house in the Bidau Motaklaran area of Becora on 2 June.
