1 min read

Police are appealing for witnesses or information in relation to a robbery at a dairy near Riccarton Racecourse yesterday.

At about 8.25am on Sunday [13 January], a man carrying a cricket bat entered the store and demanded money from the store owner.

A sum of money was taken and the offender was seen fleeing on foot along Racecourse Road and over fences between Racecourse Road and Epsom Road.

Detective Gary Absalom says the offender is described as a man in his late teens or early 20s, about 1.75m (5ft 9in) tall, of slim build and with short peroxide-blonde hair.

He was wearing a grey hooded top, black pants and carrying a cricket.

"It is fortunate that no one was hurt in the incident, but we want to make sure this offender is caught before it happens again," Detective Absalom says.

"We would like to hear urgently from anyone who may have seen anything, or been in the vicinity around that time, or who has information that can help our investigation."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Absalom on (03) 3637648. Alternatively, to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
