This investigation relates to the disappearance and probable death of 22 year old Palmerston North man Nicholas Pike.
The Commissioner of Police has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information about what has happened to Nicholas Pike.
Mr Pike was last seen by the wharf at Mt Maunganui at about 3.55am on Friday 15th March 2002. At this time he was in the company of an 18 year old female and 2 men, all from Tauranga.
He was the sober driver of a red Mazda 323, registration number OP2767. This car belonged to the female companion.
Mr Pike is from Palmerston North and although he had been spending a lot of time in the Tauranga area he had been resident in Palmerston North for the 3 months prior to his disappearance.
He has not been seen for 5 years and police believe he is dead.
Mr Pike is described as a Caucasian, thin build, 185cm tall (6 foot 1
inch), brown hair either shaved or close cut, hazel eyes. He is
extensively tattooed and in particular has a bold lined pattern on his
left upper arm and shoulder and a dog (terrier) on his back. (see
