Emergency 111, What you can do to help - New Zealand Police
What you can do to help
In an emergency, call 111. If it's not an emergency, phone your local police station.
When you call 111, be ready with name, address and phone number. If you live in the country, give your Rapid Rural Number.
Tell visitors where to find emergency information.
If you have children, make sure they know when and how to call 111.
When you call 111, be clear about where Police are needed. Use formal place names. We don't always know where you are, especially if you're calling from a mobile. Provide street, road or bridge names or other geographical features as reference points.
Answer all the questions and be as accurate as you can. If an emergency response is needed, we're getting police on the way while you're talking to us.
Stay calm and stay on the line.
Keep telling us what's happening so we can pass it on to police who will be arriving to deal with your emergency.
