Expiry and renewal of certificates
Unless your certificate is cancelled earlier, it will be valid for five years from its date of issue.
It will expire five years from the date of issue, unless you have applied to have your certificate renewed. If you have made an application for renewal before the expiration of the five-year period, your certificate will continue in force until the application for renewal is determined. An application for renewal of a certificate is the same as an application for a new certificate.
Your certificate will expire when you return it to the Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Licensing Authority if, at any stage, you decide not to continue to trade. In those circumstances, your certificate will expire on the date that the Licensing Authority receives it.
