There are five award categories, with an overall Premier Award for the best of the best:
- Education
- Community
- Organisations
- Vehicle-Based
- Road Engineering
Since 2003 these Awards have recognised road safety innovations initiated by individuals, organisations and communities. This year we hope to receive as many entries as possible, and have expanded the judging criteria somewhat to fit a wide range of road safety initiatives.
Are you aware of, or have you been involved in, any road safety initiatives which can show proven innovation, achievement, commitment and sustainability? If so, have this project recognised for its contribution to road safety! The winner in each award category will receive a cash prize of $2000, with the overall Premier Award winner receiving an additional $3000 cash prize. A representative from each winning entry will receive free travel to attend the Awards ceremony in Wellington.
The Awards recognise road safety innovations initiated by individuals, organisations and communities. They are not intended to recognise day-to-day activities of government agencies who have a core responsibility to deliver road safety, but if you have been working with other agencies or community groups on a road safety project this may be the opportunity to have the success recognised! We're keen to promote the road safety work being undertaken in New Zealand, so please consider encouraging people you know who have been involved in successful road safety initiatives to enter.
The entry form, along with full details are available at our website: www.roadsafety.govt.nz/roadsafetyinnovationawards
Entries must be received by 4 August 2008.
Good luck!
