All About Me Tōku Āhuatanga Whānui

All about Me - Toku Ahuatanga Whanui is the early childhood module of the Keeping Ourselves Safe child protection programme. It will teach little children skills to help keep themselves safe from emotional, physical and sexual abuse, neglect and family violence. As well, it will make parents, family and adults providing education and care at centres more aware of child abuse and their role in preventing it.

The module consists of a teaching guide, materials for parents and resources for children. Child Protection Studies Centres (www.cps.org.nz) are running training for early childhood centres in child protection and All about Me. Centres obtain the All about Me kit once they have completed the training.

I'm very happy to hear all about the programme since it began, especially for the child/children to come home with information to share and talk about it most of the time. My child loves talking about it. He even sings it as a song.

Thank you for introducing this programme. It makes it easier for us parents by far.

This is an excellent programme, clearly written with high quality resources. I believe that to be effective for this age group (2-5) the programme should be offered over a longer time period (say a year) and constantly reinforced in general session activities.

Learning just how important it is to recognise abuse and to have the confidence to do something about it. How to implement the course into our centre.
