New DARE programmes
Two new DARE programmes were launched on October 31 2006 at the National Library auditorium in Wellington.
DARE Reducing the Harm is a Police programme designed to help secondary schools minimise the harm from illicit drug use. It consists of a seven step Action Plan and includes material for teachers, parents and caregivers and students. It is available to schools through Police Education Officers.
DARE to be You is a DARE Foundation programme based around the story Run for the Trees by Mandy Hager. This bibliotherapeutic programme is designed to engage youth 'at risk' to build and reinforce self esteem and encourage self control, empathy and self reliant decision making.
