Police in Palmerston North are investigating an alleged home invasion on Church Street on Saturday 14th October.

At about 9am, the victim was in her garden when she was approached by a man brandishing a knife. He forced her inside her house and then demanded her bank card and pin number. He has then tied her up in a bedroom and indecently assaulted her.

The male then demanded the victim’s car keys and took off in her red Toyota Corolla which was found dumped near the Victoria Esplanade the following morning.

The male was described as:

  • “Young-looking”
  • Approx 179cm / 5’10”
  • Large build
  • Clear brown skin
  • Brown eyes
  • “Well spoken”
  • Wearing a black hooded jacket and black track pants with black leather slip on dress shoes with no socks.

Police are also appealing for the identity of those seen in the CCTV using the victim’s bank cards. They’re not saying that they were in any way involved in the home invasion but Police believe they will have valuable information that will help with this case.
