Police in Hawke's Bay are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery at the Omahu Road Gull Service Station in Hastings on Friday 12th May.

At about 1:25am, an armed male entered the service station and demanded cash and cigarettes. He racked the slide of the pistol in front of the attendant, however it locked open indicating that the firearm was not loaded. The attendant complied and filled the orange plastic bag with some cash and cigarettes.

The male then left the store in the direction towards Hastings City.

The male was described as:

  • Possibly Maori or Pacific Islander with a fair complexion
  • Young, possibly 25-30 years
  • Approx 17cm / 5’6”
  • Slim-medium build
  • Wearing a grey hoodie, possibly covered with a black t-shirt, red Chuck Taylor style shoes, and black gloves with a yellow band around the left wrist and a orange or red band around the right wrist.

There was a vehicle out the front of the service station around the time of the robbery. It was described as similar to a Toyota Trueno, which is a 2-door coupe, and it was described as blue or bluish-green in colour, with possibly five spoke mag wheels and a boot spoiler.

Police aren’t saying this vehicle pictured is involved however the occupant(s) may have seen something that could help with this case.

Police are appealing for anyone who may recognise this male or may know anything about this case to contact Hastings Police.
