Police in Counties Manukau are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery at the Thirsty Liquor store in Otara on Thursday 14th September.

At about 6.30pm, two males have entered the Thirsty Liquor store on Franich Street where the first male has run directly behind the counter and began to assault the shop attendant in a very violent manner. There have also been two customers in the store at the time but this has not deterred the male behind the counter who has demanded money. While this is occurring, the second male has taken bottles of alcohol off the shelves.

One of the shop attendants has followed the two males up Franich Street, past the dairy where they have turned left onto Gilbert Road. They were seen getting into a white station wagon on Gilbert Road, have conducted a U-turn and driven off.

The first male was described as:

  • Possibly Māori with a fair complexion
  • Young, possibly 18-20 years but may be even younger
  • Approx. 166cm / 5’5”
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a blue hoody and dark shorts.

The second male was described as:

  • Slim build
  • Wearing a black or silver hoody and shorts.

Police are appealing for anyone who may recognise these males or may know anything about this case to contact Counties Manukau Police.
