Police in Counties Manukau are investigating an alleged serious assault in Ararimu on Tuesday 6th February, Waitangi Day.

At about 9:15pm, the victim and his wife were travelling along Ararimu Road and through the intersection into Turner Road. They realised they should have turned right at the intersection and as they have attempted to perform a U-turn, a second vehicle has pulled in alongside the victim’s car. The driver of the second vehicle got out, retrieved something from the passenger seat of his car and approached the victim.

The victim noticed a knife in the male’s left hand which he pointed at the victim. The male then yelled at the victim and demanded he get out of the car. He kicked the victim’s driver’s door so hard that it left a dent and then he leaned in and pulled the keys from the ignition. The male then stabbed the victim in the face which resulted in a significant laceration right through to the bone and perforated the inside of the victim’s cheek.

The male was described as:

  • “Adult”
  • Medium-solid build
  • Caucasian, or Maori or Pacific Islander with a light complexion
  • His vehicle was described as a red sedan, hatchback or stationwagon, early 90’s-2000’s model.

Counties Manukau Police would like to hear from anyone who may recognise this male’s description or the voice heard on dash cam audio. The item (including the dash cam audio of the suspect’s voice) can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/PoliceTen7/
