Police in Counties Manukau are investigating an alleged home invasion in Manurewa on Friday 12th October.

At about 10:15pm, the elderly victim was home alone when she answered a knock at the door. There was an unknown male at the door and after mumbling something to the victim, he forced his way into the house. Another male followed the first male into the house.

Once inside, the first male has taken the victims handbag at which point he has struggled with the victim, knocking her over and seriously injuring her. The males have rummaged through the house and then taken off. A dog handler has tracked from the address but the track was lost a few streets away.

A short while later, the victim’s bank cards were used at the Clendon Shopping Centre ASB ATM and her bank accounts were cleaned out.

The first male was described as:

  • Aged mid-late 20’s
  • Approx 184cm / 6ft
  • Skinny build
  • Dark complexion
  • Short black hair
  • Wearing a black long sleeve top and black trousers

The second male was described as:

  • Aged mid 20’s to 30’s
  • Approx 171-175cm / 5’7”-5’8”
  • Medium build
  • Dark complexion
  • Wearing a light grey hoodie with the hood up.

Police have canvased CCTV around where the victim’s handbag was located in Glen Innes and they would like to speak with the male pictured. Police are not saying that he was involved in the home invasion but he may have crucial information that can help with this case.

Also of interest to the inquiry, two young females had been to the victim’s home the Tuesday prior to the home invasion. These females asked to use the victim’s phone and went inside her house.
