Police in Tokoroa are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery in Tokoroa on Saturday 11th August.

At about 7:45pm, two males entered the store where the two shopkeepers and their two friends were. The males, one armed with a knife and one with a stick, demanded cash from the victims. One of the victims was marched across the store with the knife to his throat and another victim, who was on the phone when the males entered the store, was also threatened at knifepoint.

The two shopkeepers have been victims of an aggravated robbery before and they felt extremely threatened so they fought the two males off who have then fled from the store and through an alleyway.

Suspect 1 was described as:

  • Male Māori or Pacific Islander
  • Late teens - early 20’s
  • Approx. 179cm / 5’10”
  • Wearing a black hoody, beanie and bandana over half of his face and white gloves.
  • Carrying a stick which was approximately 3 ft long and described as similar to a fence post.

Suspect 2 was described as:

  • Male Māori or Pacific Islander
  • Late teens - early 20’s
  • Wearing a black hoody, white mask and grey pants with white writing down the left leg.
  • Carrying a knife described as a cut off metal ruler with the measurements visible on the blade.

Tokoroa Police would like to speak with anyone who recognises these males or can help in any way with this case.
