19th April 2018

Police in Hutt Valley are investigating the homicide of Paul Te Hiko at his home in Wainuiomata on Wednesday 7th March.

On the evening of March 7th, just before 11pm, two associates of Paul’s arrived at his property and found him unresponsive so proceeded to call emergency services who, despite administering first aid, were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Medical examination determined that Paul died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Paul was last seen shortly before 7pm at the local shops.

Gunshots were heard that evening by other people in the area, but such noises are not uncommon in these parts given the close proximity of a popular hunting ground.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in this area on the 7th March who may have seen or heard anything, in particular gunshots, between the hours of 7pm-11pm.

If you have any information that could help to bring closure for Paul’s family, please contact Hutt Valley Police.
