Police in Levin are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery at a dairy on Winchester Street in Levin on Sunday 15th April.

At approximately 6.30pm, two individuals entered the dairy armed with weapons. The first was a female armed with a baseball bat, the second was a younger looking male who remained in the doorway of the dairy armed with a claw hammer. The female proceeded around to the back of the dairy towards the owners, brandishing the bat in their direction, she has then told the shopkeepers to get on the ground. The shop owner, who has been a victim of four robberies in the last 18 months, has picked up a step ladder to defend himself and proceeded to push the female back out of the store, with his wife following behind carrying a stool. The armed male and female have both left the store and proceeded first onto Winchester St and then left into Goldsmith Crescent, it is to here that their scents were tracked by a police dog however the scent was lost, which could mean that the duo may have got into a vehicle.

One witness has said that they saw a Holden Commodore leaving Goldsmith Crescent soon after the robbery. Police are not saying this car was involved but they would like to speak to the occupants of the vehicle or anyone who may have seen it or others in the area around the time of robbery, as they may have information that could help with their case.

The female is described as:

  • Māori or Pacific Islander
  • Approx. 30 years
  • Solid build
  • Wearing a black hoodie with black sleeveless vest with checked patterning over the top, a black Nike bum bag and Nike scuffs.
  • The baseball bat she is carrying is red and has large block writing on it

The male is described as:

  • Teenaged
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a blue tie die t-shirt
  • Carrying a small claw hammer

Police would like to speak to anyone who may recognise these people or have other information that could assist with their investigation.
