Police in Waitemata are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery at The Good Home Birkenhead on Saturday 25th August.

Just before 10pm, two masked men entered the bar, one armed with a shotgun. There was a third person waiting in a stolen Subaru Impreza outside. The masked men directed the bar staff to hand over cash. There were multiple patrons in the bar at the time and one of them approached the gunman at which point he let off a warning shot just above the patron’s head before kicking him. Another patron has grabbed a barstool and a second warning shot was fired into the ceiling before this patron was kicked to the ground.

The males left the scene in the stolen white Subaru Impreza which was taken from Sunnyhaven Ave that evening and dumped in Roseberry Ave about 30 minutes after the robbery.

Police are revealing new information about how they believe the suspects then made their escape. It is believed that a second vehicle was involved and this is described as a light-coloured blue or grey sedan which appears to have travelled in convoy with the stolen Subaru. Police believe that the suspects have gotten into this vehicle after dumping the Subaru on Roseberry Ave.

The first male is described as:

  • Māori or Pacific Islander
  • Approx 184cm / 6ft
  • Medium-heavy build
  • Wearing dark clothing
  • Carrying a long-barrelled black shotgun

The second male is described as:

  • Approx 184cm / 6ft
  • Medium build
  • Wearing dark clothing

Waitemata Police would like to hear from anyone who recognises these males or anyone who can help in any way with this case.
