Case 1: Timaru Schoolgirl Abduction
On Tuesday 23rd of March at 3.20pm a 16 year old female left Roncalli College and walked out onto Cain St heading for Girl’s Brigade.
At the Harper / Hassall St intersection she turned onto Harper St and saw a black car parked next to a house and a man dressed in black clothes standing beside it. She thought that the man “didn’t look safe” so she crossed the road. As she started to cross the road she saw the man run towards her then grabbed her by her jersey and dragged her back to the car putting her in the back seat.
After driving around for approximately half an hour he stopped the car about 200m up Claremont Road took his cell phone and went behind some bushes. At this point the girl escaped and called her mother who then phoned the police.
Offender is described as:
- Male
- Tall
- Slim
- Late 20s – Early 30s
- NB: No description of ethnicity
He was wearing:
- Black clothing including a hoodie up over his head
- Dark sunglasses
- Black leather gloves
His vehicle is described as being a “normal” 4-door black car with what appeared to be a compartment with a lid between the two front seats.
