Case 1: Arrest Made
Case 2: Wanted – Daniel Matthew MAIR
Dunedin Police need your help to find Daniel Matthew MAIR. They have two warrants for his arrest on 15 active charges and for breaching his prison release conditions.
MAIR is described as:
- Male Caucasian
- 25 years
- 180cm / 5’11”
- Thin to medium build
He has a spider web tattooed on his right elbow and also uses the name Daniel MANNERS.
MAIR has contacts in Wellington and Christchurch and is actively avoiding police.
Has been on the run for two years is likely to disguise himself

Case 3: Kerikeri Sexual Assaults
RAPE 1: 9th JULY 2011
The first case occurred just after midnight on the 9th of July 2011.
The victim had been out with friends at a local bar.
Just after 10:30pm that night the victim left the bar with two other friends and made her way to another bar.
At around midnight the victim left with a friend. They talked outside then the friend dropped the victim just down the road to an address she was staying at, at around 12:15am.
As the victim is walked towards the driveway of that address the victim's friend noticed a male walking along the footpath towards them. He passed directly past them both on the same side of the road.
The friend then watched the victim walk up the driveway to the house and once she was at the doorstep her friend drove off.
The victim knocked on door but couldn’t raise anyone. She then thought she heard voices from the end of the driveway.
She went back down the driveway and was approached by the offender who made sexual comments to her then attacked and raped her on the roadside.
Offender is described as:
- Male
- Maori – light complexion
- Approx 183cm / 6’0”
- Thin to medium build / not toned
- Didn't speak well (possibly not sober)
- Unshaven
He was wearing:
- Long dark pants
- Dark hoodie
RAPE 2: 17th JULY 2011
The second incident occurred in the early morning of the 17th of July 2011 at approximately 1:30am. The female victim had been at the Homestead Tavern in Kerikeri with a group of female friends.
During the evening she became separated from her associates and left the hotel alone.
She crossed Kerikeri Road by McDonalds, walked along the left of the Meridian building under the glass, and onto the Kerikeri Domain.
While walking by McDonalds she was approached by a male who yelled out "oi" to get her attention at which she turned around and saw a male a short distance behind her.
The complainant carried on walking towards the Domain and entered the Domain grounds where the male has followed her.
As the complainant neared the grand stand at the Kerikeri Domain, the male approached her again.
This time he has taken her hand and led her towards the grandstand.
The male led the complainant up the grand stand and moved her to the right of the upper level. The male then raped the victim. During the attack the male mentioned that he is married with two children.
Offender is described as:
- Male Maori
- Aged in his late twenties
- 173cm / 5’8”
- Medium build
- Short hair
- No facial hair
He was wearing:
- Black zip-up top
- Blue jeans
ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT 1: 23rd JULY 2011
The third case occurred on Saturday the 23rd of July 2011 after the victim in this matter had been at a private cocktail party at a local bar. At around 11:30pm the victim left the bar and walked home.
The victim walked down Cobham road in Kerikeri to the intersection with Cobham Court where she was grabbed from behind.
The victim did not see the offender approach but was grabbed in what she describes as the way some one would hug you from behind.
The victim yelled out and the offender has just held her and said "don't worry I'm not going to hurt you".
At that point a car has come to the intersection of Hone Heke Road and Cobham Road and the victim has seen the car headlights.
The offender at this point released the victim and ran off up Cobham Court and disappeared.
The victim described the male as:
- Male
- Sounded like he was late 20s to early 30s in age and Maori
- Tall
- Big strong build
- Deep voice
He was wearing:
- Dark pants either blue or black they sounded the type of sweat pants that rustle when you walk
- Black long-sleaved hooded sweatshirt
ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT 2: 21st AUGUST 2011
The fourth case occurred at approximately 1:55am on Sunday 21st August as a female was walking home in Kerikeri.
As she got to the corner of Cobham Road and Cobham court she heard footsteps behind her.
Frightened she quickened her pace, as did the male following her. The female then broke into a run, as did the male.
Fortunately she managed to get home and slam the door on the male and immediately called the police.
