Fishing for good behaviour
Forty children from eight different schools in Papakura got a day
off for good behaviour recently.

The group spent a day fishing on the Hauraki Gulf as part of a behaviour
reward programme run by Papakura Blue Light.
The programme is for intermediate school children who have demonstrated
leadership and improved behaviour since the beginning of the school
year. Each school put forward five pupils.
"So often the police are seen to be punishing bad behaviour, but through
Blue Light we are able to reward good behaviour," says Constable
Andrew Napier, of Papakura Blue Light.
Andrew says despite a rough trip back to land there were smiling
faces all round. "A number of the kids had never been out on
the water before and for them it was an awesome experience."
