Shooting Kiwiana

Palmerston North Forensic Photographer, Rob Sorensen, has been on a
photographic mission with friend and fellow photographer, James Price.
The pair had 60 days to capture 25 images in a project titled ‘From
New Zealand with Love ...’ as part of centennial celebrations for
Swedish camera-maker Hasselblad.
Rob and James undertook the project as a joint venture and have the
added distinction of being among just five photographers worldwide to
take part.
They shot images of Kiwiana and its influences on beauty, fashion and
passion over a two-month period, finishing in mid-August.
“Despite being in the middle of one of the coldest winters the
country has seen for several years, we got out there and did the shoots
in the local environment,” says Rob.
James made the project application and the pair were stunned to learn
they had been chosen from among thousands of entries.
“We were itching to tell people, but we didn’t till we had
the contract signed in black and white,” says Rob.
Hasselblad, described as the Rolls Royce of camera equipment, provided
them with a $50,000 digital camera for the project. |
