Prime Minister endorses DLO role

Prime Minister Helen Clark with Diversity Liaison Officers Constable Brent Clark,
Auckland City and Senior Constable Adele White, Counties/Manukau.
Prime Minister Helen Clark attended the Big Gay Out to speak to, and mingle with, the crowd. She took some time to visit the Police tent and was complimentary of the Diversity Liaison Officer initiative.
"I think it’s very important because our Police are a community-based force. And part of the success of that is being able to reach out to every community across all boundaries, so I think it’s a terrific initiative.
"I definitely want to see the Police able to respond to the many diverse communities which make up New Zealand today."
