Police hook up with ‘Poisoners’
Wellington Police and the New Zealand Police Museum recently featured at Te Papa to demonstrate some real crime solving techniques and to connect with visitors to Te Papa’s Poisoners! exhibition.
The Poisoners! Solve the murder if you dare… is on at Te Papa until October. It’s a Cluedo-like murder mystery featuring four colourful suspects and a range of nasty murder weapons.
Toxica Fay Tully, Dr Helix Splicer, Alain Sharkbait Coasteau and Anastasia van Abs are all suspects in the murder of Helix’s twin-brother, Professor Felix Splicer.
On 25 August, Wellington Central Community Constable Matt Boyce and fellow officers had police vehicles outside Te Papa.
Inside, they set up a fingerprinting station while the NZ Police Museum gave out free mug shots to the many visitors.
The actors who feature in the Poisoners! murder mystery were also on show, making a point of evading Police on several occasions.
NZ Police Museum Manager, Kamaya Yates, says the event was a great success.
Wellington Central Community Constable Matt Boyce has
murder suspect Anastasia ‘Nastie’ van Abs under arrest.
“Everyone was really happy to see us. I especially enjoyed Constable Boyce’s technique when apprehending Anastasia. Let’s just say it wasn’t textbook but it was definitely arresting.”
The NZ Police Museum has been running a Junior Detective Mystery all year round since 1998.
