Open day planned for CollegeAn open day for public and police at The Royal New Zealand Police College is being planned for 23 February, 2008. The response to date from police units and sections invited to participate means there will be more than 30 displays featuring all aspects of policing, says project coordinator Paul Mears. Interactive displays will include AOS, Motorcycles, Police Dogs and the Police Pipe Band. There will also be displays on Disaster Victim Identification, Comms, clandestine drug labs, Dive Squad, Intelligence and the Maritime Unit. Paul hopes puppies from the NZ Police Dog Training Centre will further attract families, and Police Museum Manager Kamaya Yates has secured a children’s puppet featuring Constable Bryan Ward of TV3’s Bryan and Bobby fame. The last open day, held in April 2006, was immensely popular and attracted 6000 people. This time the open day will coincide with celebrations of the NZ Police Museum centenary. |
