Bows across city bridgesGisborne residents will attempt to form a human white ribbon by having 1000 people link across three bridges in the city as part of White Ribbon Day. The four corners three bridges initiative is being organised by Tairawhiti Men Against Violence. Family Violence Coordinator, Eastern district, Senior Sergeant Chris Bunyan, says the initiative is one of a number of community events supported by Police. Other activities on the day are a joint community effort, but particularly supported by Live Hawke’s Bay and Tairawhiti Abuse Intervention Network. To highlight White Ribbon Day, there will be banners in downtown Napier and Hastings and a Family Violence Expo at Napier’s Centennial Hall on the Saturday – featuring displays, presentations, bands, Hawke’s Bay sports celebrities and the ‘family violence is not OK’ message. |
