| Survey to determine trust, confidence and satisfaction New Zealanders are currently being surveyed as part of the Police Service First project, to establish levels of trust and confidence in Police, and levels of satisfaction with policing services. Assistant Commissioner Grant Nicholls, in charge of Strategy, Policy and Performance at Police National HQ, says the Citizens’ Satisfaction Survey went live on 10 March and will run until 30 June. Up to 10,000 people throughout New Zealand will be interviewed by phone during this time. The survey is being carried out by Gravitas Research and Strategy Limited, an Auckland based, independent research company. The survey will be repeated at least annually to provide an ongoing measure of police performance and citizens’ satisfaction with Police. “The Service First project is all about ensuring the public’s expectations of Police are met,” says Grant. “We also want to improve the way we carry out our core business and make it easier for the public to deal with us. “That’s why we need the people who use Police services to describe their expectations and experience of dealing with us.” Participation in the survey is voluntary. The information that participants provide is confidential and no individual will be identified in or through the findings. The results of the survey will be reported at district and national level, and for Communications Centres. The results will form part of wider monitoring of satisfaction with Police, as recommended in the Commission of Inquiry into Police Conduct. Further information about the survey is available under the ‘Hot Topics’ section on the home page of the Police website - www.police.govt.nz |
