Mt Cook update 11.30am
There is no change at Mt Cook this morning with rescuers still unable to get a helicopter in to rescue a woman climber believed to possibly be suffering from hypothermia.
Constable Greg SUTHERLAND at Mt Cook says that the weather in the village right now is low cloud and raining.
"Hopefully the weather will change to the south mid afternoon, around 3pm," he says.
The group, which does not include a guide, flew in to the Tasman Saddle Hut on 14 October and have since visited the Tasman Saddle, the Graham Saddle and the Centennial Hill areas, ski ing and climbing both sides of the main divide.
Constable SUTHERLAND says that the two who raised the alarm skied and climbed down to the De La Beche Hut yesterday.
An Alpine Rescue team is heading up from Wanaka to be on stand by.
"We hope to at least get the staging area on the glacier set up today," says Greg SUTHERLAND. "The rescue team is preparing to spend the night on the glacier."
