First charges under new law

An Australian will be sentenced in the Christchurch District Court this Friday, on charges on having sex with prostitutes, under 18 years of age.

He will be sentenced on four charges that relate to three separate complainants

Detective Sergeant Ken LEGAT says he believes that this will be a first in New Zealand under the old Crimes Act and new Prostitution Law Reform Act.

Robert Scott ANTOLIK aged 31, pleaded guilty on 18 November and has been remanded in custody since. He will be sentenced in the Christchurch District Court on Friday 19 December.
