1 min read

The body of a man who was killed on Aoraki Mt Cook this morning was airlifted out to Mt Cook DOC headquarters early this afternoon.

Constable Brett SIMON says that the other three climbers in the group are making their own way down to the Plateau Hut from where they will be airlifted back to the Mt Cook village by helicopter.

The dead man has not yet been identified and his name will not be released until his next of kin have been notified.

Constable Simon says that the weather at Mt Cook has been very good today with high cloud coming in now. The snow is very hard and the climbing conditions are described as difficult.
