Police receive upwards of 40 calls in "cold case"

1 min read

Waitakere Police have today been inundated with phone calls and emails about the 1976 murder of 13 year old Tracey Ann Patient.

This follows a story on the "cold case" by the Holmes Television Show last night.

"We’ve received so many calls, voice and e mails that we’re going to have to set up a small inquiry team to deal with it all", said Officer in Charge, Detective Sergeant Murray Free.

"It’s too early to comment on any potential new leads at this stage we have to first collate the information, compare it against the original file and then assess if we have anything new".

"I’d like to thank everyone who has contacted us and remind anyone who may know something but hasn’t called yet that… it’s never too late".

"It’s been heartening to know that 28 years later people still care and want the case solved".

Anyone with any information about the teenager’s death can call Waitakere City CIB 09-839-0600.
