Body of elderly Johnsonville man formally identified

1 min read

Wellington Police have today formally identified an elderly Johnsonville man whose body was found two days ago in his Heath Street flat.

He was Mr Dada Tukotahi, also known as Pehi Joseph, aged 67 years.

Senior Constable Bob Gibbison, Wellington Police Inquest Officer, says Mr Tukotahi was last seen alive approximately seven weeks ago. He says the formal identification will help ease the concerns of many people with the surname Joseph who have contacted police in the last two days believing the man may have been a relative.

The circumstances of the death, which is not believed to be suspicious, will now be forwarded to the coroner.
