Former Scout masters are alleged sex offenders

Two men, each already charged with sexual violation, will make their second appearances in the Auckland District Court today [Friday], where they will face a number of other charges relating to offences Police allege took place between January 2002 and August 2004 when they were warranted Scout masters.

Auckland City Police arrested them on Tuesday after a lengthy investigation into their activities. A third man – a 70 year-old former Scout master - has been summonsed to appear in Court on December 10 to face a charge of possession of objectionable material.

The two men in custody, a 32 year-old and a 48 year-old, received interim name suppression at their Court appearance late on Tuesday afternoon.

Collectively the two men face 16 charges relating to offences alleged to have been committed against two young boys.

The 32 year-old is independently charged with:

• Indecency on a boy under 12
• Sexual violation - twice
• Indecency with a boy over 12
• Indecency on a boy under 12, laid in the alternative of indecently assaults a boy over 12
• Indecency with a boy under 12 – twice

He and the 48 year-old are jointly charged with:

• Indecent assault of a boy over 12
• Sexual violation

The 48 year-old is independently charged with:

• Indecency on a boy under 12
• Sexual violation
• Sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection
• Indecent assault of a boy aged 12 to 16.
