1 min read

Two men pleaded guilty to 16 sex offence and indecency charges in the Auckland District Court today.

Andrew John Pybus, a 32 year-old Manukau courier driver and former warranted Scout master, is guilty of 10 offences against two boys and was remanded in custody to appear in the High Court for sentencing on February 8, 2005.

Another man, a 48 year-old former Scout master, pleaded guilty to six similar charges relating to the same victims and was remanded in custody - with continued name suppression - to appear in the Auckland High Court for sentencing on February 8, 2005.

The presiding judge at today’s appearances requested that Victim Impact and Probation reports be produced on sentencing day.

Officer in charge of the investigation that led to the mens’ arrests, Detective Sergeant Lloyd Schmid, said he was relieved the men pleaded guilty and spared their victims and their families the ordeal of Court trials.

"Our investigations into these offenders started some 15 months ago after Police received information from a member of the public," Mr Schmid said.

"Our inquiries into their activities are continuing. If anyone believes they have information that might assist our investigation, they should contact the Operation Byte team at Auckland Central Police Station on 09 302 6400."
