Investigation continues at scene of Masterton shooting

Police are continuing an examination of a Masterton street and two houses - scene of a gang related shooting in the town this morning.

Inspector John Johnston, Wairarapa Area Commander, says the police Armed Offenders Squad has now been stood down but the scene examination in Miriam Street and neighbouring areas continues.

The man who was shot in the leg is undergoing treatment in Masterton Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

Inspector Johnston says police have not yet found who was responsible for the shooting.
