Body removed from scene

1 min read

Police removed a man's body from a central city outdoor stairwell at about 8pm last evening and it will undergo a post-mortem examination today, Friday. It's hoped that the results of that examination will significantly advance the investigation into the man's death.

Auckland City detectives were at the site where the man's body was found since about 3pm on Thursday, January 27. The area was cordoned off and under guard overnight. A more detailed scene examination continued today.

Police do not know how old the man was, who he was or how he came to be where he was, but estimate he'd been dead for more than 48 hours.
