Porirua police launch homicide inquiry

Porirua police have launched a homicide inquiry after a woman died at Titahi Bay beach late this morning.

Inspector John Spence, Kapiti Mana Area Commander, says the woman is believed to have been stabbed.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident which happened around 11am at the northern end of the beach.

Inspector Spence says details are still sketchy but the woman was found in a car parked at the northern end of the beach. Police are currently talking with a man about the incident.

A passerby alerted police but officers, along with ambulance and fire personnel, were unable to revive the woman.
