1 min read

Wellington CIB is no longer seeking an accomplice in the short lived escape of Rimutaka Prison remand inmate Arthur William Taylor in the city on Tuesday afternoon, 22 March.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Perry, Wellington CIB, says 45-year-old Manu Royal voluntarily gave himself up to Auckland Police this evening.

"He voluntarily came into Auckland Central Police Station tonight and will appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow charged with assisting escape from lawful custody."

Taylor was recaptured in a central Wellington carpark building within an hour of the escape. Police have since then been following up information from throughout the North Island to find Royal.
