The body of the woman, whose body was found in a vacant lot off Peterborough Street, Christchurch yesterday, has been identified. However says DSS Dave Harvey, her next of kin have not yet been contacted.
"It would be inappropriate for us to comment further until they have been advised," he says.

Her body was removed from the scene last night around 7.30pm and the post mortem conducted.

Police are still at the scene and are likely to be there for a few more days.

"I wish to thank the public for all their assistance to date," says Dave Harvey. "We are still interested in hearing from people whom may have been in Peterborough Street between 4am- 6am yesterday morning, Saturday 16 April."

Police are still working through the vehicles that were caught inside the crime scene to release them back to the owners. Peterborough Street is still closed between Park Terrace and Montreal Street and the block to Kilmore Street.

Next release approximately 1pm.
