Increasing concern for missing elderly man

1 min read

A 70 year old man has been missing from his Avonside rest home overnight and as the afternoon moves on with no reported sightings, there is increased concern for his safety.

Acting Sergeant Ross Gilray says that 70 year old Barry has dementia but is in good health and very mobile.

"He was last seen at the St James home in Patten Street around midnight last night. The area has been searched but there has been no sighting of him," he says.

Last night was cold with heavy rain so there are concerns for his well being.

Barry is tall - over 6 foot tall. He is believed to be wearing a green Fair Isle jersey, dark pants and brown walking shoes. He is possibly wearing a check shirt, a green cardigan and a green jacket.

Anyone who sees an elderly man of this description is asked to contact Police immediately.
